چکیده

Particleboards (PB) and oriented strand boards (OSB) are commonly used materials in building structures or interiors. The surface of may hence become directly exposed to fire radiant heat. aim this paper is evaluate the behaviour uncoated particleboards OSB following ignition parameters were observe process particleboard ignition: heat flux intensity (from 43 50 kW.m-2) temperature. time-to-ignition mass loss with thicknesses 12, 15 18 mm monitored compared. experiments conducted on a modified device accordance ISO 5657: 1997. Results confirmed thermal degradation samples. Heat had significant effect (burning rate) time-to-ignition. higher time than started later, i.e., at temperature that particleboards, but also particleboards. samples yielded same results above 47 kW.m?2. Thermal analysis decomposition (179 °C) compared (146 °C). difference both stages did not exceed 1%.

Critical mass flux for flaming ignition of dead, dry wood as a function of external radiant heat flux

Extreme weather often contributes to crown fires, where the fire spreads from one tree crown to the next as a series of piloted ignitions. An important aspect in predicting crown fires is understanding the ignition of fuel particles. The ignition criterion considered in this work is the critical mass flux criterion – that a sufficient amount of pyrolysis gases must be generated for a diffusion ...

Ignition of Wood-based Materials by Thermal Radiation

Ignition is the initial stage of burning the materials. Consequent flame spread over the materials, heat release rate, fire spread across the rooms, and other issues for building fires all depend on that. Ignition of cellulose materials is commonly classified as smoldering or glowing ignition (self-heating ignition) and flaming ignition including piloted and spontaneous ignition. Numerous studi...

Automated Visual Inspection: Wood Boards

The majority of scientific papers focusing on wood classification for pencil manufacturing take into account defects and visual appearance. Traditional methodologies are based on texture analysis by co-occurrence matrix, by image modeling, or by tonal measures over the plate surface. In this work, we propose to classify plates of wood without biological defects like insect holes, nodes, and cra...

Heat Transfer Characteristics of Rowing Headgear with Radiant Heat Flow

INTRODUCTION Radiant heat gain to the head has recently been shown to affect sensation in human subjects (Buyan et al., 2006). However, only one published study has been conducted on the influence of radiant heat gain for sports headgear (Ishigaki et al., 2001). One could assume that reducing heat stress by shielding solar radiation using sports headgear would increase thermal comfort, and poss...
